Lack of Solidarity?

The NFL is being celebrated by Black people for putting on a great halftime show yesterday, which featured some of my favorite entertainers, including Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg and 50 Cent during the Super Bowl.

I didn’t watch the performance. I only caught the highlights on Instagram. At the same time, you have a Black former Head Coach filing a Class Action Lawsuit against the NFL. Even before Kaepernick decided to take a knee and was blackballed, the NFL had many reasons for the Black community to boycott.

The blatant racism displayed by NFL teams, specifically when it concerns hiring Black coaches, should motivate us to stop watching the NFL. If nothing else, we as a community should be satisfied with a halftime show. Symbolism does nothing for Coach Flores and Black coaches like him. It does nothing for Black Quarterbacks and prospects from HBCU’s being overlooked by NFL teams.
