Rethinking Education
What should education look like for Black teenagers like Caine and O-Dog?
I don’t want a pat on the back! We need to be upset!
While I enjoy acknowledgment and I strive to be the very best educator that I can be. I wanted people to read these words and be upset. I know that a lot of what I said did not fit the overall theme of the article, and what is written is real but a little sugar-coated. That is not a knock against writer Jamie Swenson, with who I had some very positive conversations. This is an article highlighting the fact that UW helped put me in a position to fight inequity that our Black and Brown students experience.
We demand change!
We want to connect equity to every component of Education. That only happens if we are willing to eliminate ineffective support strategies our children receive and build the elements necessary to create a positive, systematic approach to equitable Education for all students.
Thoughts Processed: Why do we love Michael Jordan so much?
I recently got a new pair of Jordan's, and I was extremely happy! I started to think about how this guy hasn't played in 18 years. Why do I still get excited about his shoes? I was on Facebook, and one of the groups that I am in was talking about Jordan. Someone compared him to Lebron and a member of the group made a video. He was pissed, I am 37, he was older than me. Hella mad that someone would even bring Jordan up in a discussion about Lebron James. He felt that there was no argument to be made. Just some thoughts on why we like MJ the way we do.

Thoughts Processed: Election Day is today!
Election Day is today, and I cant help but notice people are shaming others into voting against Trump. Is that the best strategy? Do people have the right to vote for who they choose to? This video was recorded prior to today.
“Give me options and Ill go cold turk” – Nipsey Hussle
We are at a point where presenting possibilities is not enough. We have to begin to create avenues we want to see our children go into!
We are wasting time trying to convince white people that Black Lives Matters!
Why do we care so much about getting White people to acknowledge that our lives matter? Even if it is possible to convince them, do we think that society would magically change in our favor?
